SCR Performs ‘14 Minutes Miracle’ on Visakhapatnam – Secunderabad Vande Bharat Express

In response to the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s call towards Swachhata Hi Sewa as part of Swachh Bharat Campaign, the Ministry of Railways launched the ‘14 minutes miracle’ scheme which involves swift and perfect cleaning of the Vande Bharat train rake in a span of just 14 minutes. As part of the same, the Secunderabad division of South Central Railway undertook the ‘14 minutes miracle’ challenge on Train No. 20834 Visakhapatnam – Secunderabad Vande Bharat Express today i.e., 02nd October, 2023 at Secunderabad Railway station.

Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR graced the occasion and interacted with the Swachh Vande Veers and also personally monitored the ’14 Minutes Miracle’ Challenge on Visakhapatnam – Secunderabad Vande Bharat Express. The Mechanical & Cleaning Staff successfully accomplished the task of cleaning the entire Vande Bharat Rake i.e., 16 coaches in just a span of 14 minutes.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Arun Kumar Jain informed that the 14 minutes miracle scheme has been launched by the Indian Railways to provide top class, clean and comfortable train experience to the esteemed Rail passengers. He stated that the challenge is an example of our commitment to provide world class service to passengers while also aligning with national call for cleanliness and hygiene.  He stated that the 14 minutes cleaning challenge reduces the waiting time at station and provides more time for the passengers to board the train.

The General Manager also informed that the 14 minutes miracle challenge is not a one-time exercise and will be carried out regularly from here on in all Vande Bharat trains. The General Manager also expressed his happiness on more than 100% occupancy being recorded in all Vande Bharat trains on SCR jurisdiction. He also appealed to the rail users to shun the use of single use plastic and to collectively strive to make India Garbage Free by committing to Swachhata and Clean & Green India.

The Visakhapatnam – Secunderabad Vande Bharat Express consists of 16 coaches. To ensure the meticulous cleaning of each of the coaches 16 batches of cleaning staff were assigned. Within each batch, a dedicated team of three staff member takes on specific task to ensure that no small detail is overlooked. These staff are named as Swachh Vande Veers. The tight timeframe of 14 minutes necessitates incredible coordination, precision and efficiency. The clock starts ticking as soon as the train arrives at the platform and passengers disembark. The cleaning crew springs into action, working together like a well oiled machine.
