GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad proudly announces its active participation in the nationwide cleanliness drive, “Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta Ek Saath,” initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The university, in collaboration with the National Cadet Core (NCC) cadets and National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers, undertook extensive cleaning activities on October 1, 2023, from 10-11 AM.

With the objective of paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called upon citizens from all walks of life to engage in shramdaan for swachhata, a voluntary contribution towards cleanliness. As part of this initiative, GITAM, Hyderabad, took the lead in organizing a large-scale cleaning campaign within its campus surroundings and the Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS) premises.

The event witnessed the active participation of GITAM Resident Director DVVSRVarma, Rudraram Surpanch P.Sudheer Reddy, Upa Sarpanch Yadaiah, Secretary Rajkumar, ward members, Panchayat Staff, MPO Hari Shankar, School Head Master Sujata, and NCC Officer Shankar, along with their cadets.

The participants enthusiastically dedicated their time and efforts to make a significant impact on their surroundings. Through this collective effort, GITAM, Hyderabad, aims to emphasize the importance of cleanliness and instill a sense of responsibility in every individual towards maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.

During the event, all participants took a pledge to continue their efforts towards cleanliness beyond this one-hour drive. This commitment reflects GITAM Deemed to be University’s dedication to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and its continuous efforts to create a cleaner and healthier society.

GITAM, Hyderabad, acknowledges the support of the NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, and housekeeping staff in making this event a resounding success.
