Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah announces to challenge SC decision of Cauvery Water Regulatory Committee

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that they will challenge before the Supreme Court the decision of Cauvery Water Regulatory Committee to release 3000 Cusecs of Cauvery river water everyday to Tamilnadu from tomorrow to October 15th.

Speaking to media persons in M M Hills in Chamarajanagar today, he said that based on the opinion of legal experts, the state has decided to challenge the CWRC direction.

He pointed out that due to monsoon failure in the state, 195 Taluks are drought hit and the reservoirs have insufficient storages. In another development, both BJP and JD(S) jointly held agitation in Bengaluru today. 

The leaders from both the parties blamed Karnataka state Government for failure to safeguard the interest of the state. Meanwhile Pro Kannada organisations have decided to call for a Karnataka bandh on September 29th.

Kannada activist Vatal Nagaraj informed that over 1900 Kannada organisations across the state will take part in the bandh and block highways and railway lines.

After the announcement, the Hotel organisations, Malls, taxi and autorickshaw organisations, Karnataka Film Chamber and Cine artists association have extended support to the bandh.
