Shantiniketan included in UNESCO World Heritage list: PM Modi congratulates the nation
Shantiniketan has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. The UNESCO made the announcement in a post on ‘X’ yesterday. The decision to include Santiniketan in the list was taken during the 45th session of the World Heritage Committee currently underway in Saudi Arabia.
Established in 1901 by Maharshi Debendranath Tagore, father of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, Shantiniketan is located in Birbhum district of West Bengal.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the nation on the occasion. In a social media post, Prime Minister Modi said that this is a proud moment for all Indians. Expressing delight over the achievement, Mr. Modi said that Shantiniketan is an embodiment of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore’s vision and India’s rich cultural heritage.
