Telangana FCRI agreement with Auburn University (USA): Appreciated CM OSD Priyanka Varghese’s ‘Harithaharam’ Presentation
Forest College & Research Institute (FCRI), Mulugu, Hyderabd, Telangana and Auburn University, Alabama, USA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The students from FCRI, Telangana will go to Auburn University to pursue Master’s Degree in Forestry and related sciences which is fully funded by the Auburn University.
This MoU will inforce made for 6 years, and under this programme FCRI will send two students every year to gain more experiential learning in the field of Forestry & Research at Auburn University and will find better placements.
The signing of MoU was signed in the presence of Smt.Priyankaa Varghese, IFS, Dean from Forest College & Research Institute, Hyderabad and Dr. Janaki Alavalapati, Dean, College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment, Vinni Nathan Pro vost, Dr.Christopher Roberts, President, Bret Wright, Director, other faculty members and students from Auburn University. Through this MoU our FCRI students will get opportunities widely in global perspective in the field of forestry.
This whole credit goes to Sri. Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao, Hon’ble Chief Minister of our state who established FCRI, Telangana and has been guiding force throughout the journey and also the Hon’ble Minister, Forest, the Chief Secretary, the Prl.Chief Conservator of Forests (HoFF), Telangana.
Apart from signing of MoU, Smt.Priyankaa Varghese, IFS, Dean, FCRI has made a detailed presentation to the gathering of Auburn University about Establishment, Mission, Vision and Future prospects of Forest College and Research University and also informed that Forest College is deemed to be a University one among the first University in the world exclusively for field of forestry.
Further made a detailed presentation about Telanganaku Harithaharam Programme which our state has improved green cover to 7.7% from last eight years. The officials from Auburn University are very impressed, encouraged and motivated about the green works of Government of Telangana. Lot of questions are asked how it is working and happening.
The Dean FCRI told the gathering at auburn event, it is all because of political will and encouragement given by Hon‘ble Chief Minister to carry out this afforestation programme for giving enough legal and financial support to make this successful.
This signing of Memorandum of Understanding between the Auburn University and FCRI will help our FCRI students to go a long way in global and international perspective in forestry research, education and various other components of forestry to get better placements in their profession.
