PM Modi launches Vishwakarma scheme held at NIMHANS Convention Centre in Bengaluru

Virtual streaming of the launch of PM Vishwakarma scheme by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was held at NIMHANS Convention Centre in Bengaluru today. Shobha Karandlaje, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare was the Chief Guest in the function.

She said that it was the Prime Minister’s vision to provide technical support to the traditional work done by Vishwakarma all over the Country, that led to the launch of the scheme. She highlighted the benefits of the scheme and asked the Vishwakarma people to take maximum advantage of the scheme.

In Karnataka, the scheme was virtually launched in two other districts of  Mangalore and Hubli other than Bengaluru. In Mangalore, Parshottam Rupla, Union Minister for Fisheries and Animal Husbandry and in Hubli Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Union Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Electronics and IT also attended the function.

PM Vishwakarma will be fully funded by the Union Government with an outlay of 13,000 crore rupees. The prime focus of PM Vishwakarma is at improving the quality as well as the reach of products and services of artisans and craftspeople and to ensure that they are integrated with the domestic and global value chains.

The scheme will provide support to artisans and craftspeople of rural and urban areas across India. Eighteen traditional crafts will be covered under PM Vishwakarma.
