Punjab to celebrate Pehla Prakash Guruparv of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

In Punjab, the Pehla Prakash Guruparv of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is being observed today. On this occasion, Sangat is coming from all parts of the country and abroad at Sri Darbar Sahib in Amritsar since early morning and bowing before Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji with full devotion.

The Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee SGPC has made elaborate arrangements for the convenience of the Sangat. The shabad kirtan is going on continuously. Sri Darbar Sahib has been decorated with different kinds of colorful flowers.

The fifth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Arjun Dev Ji, illuminated Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji at Sri Darbar Sahib Amritsar in 1604. Since then, every year the Prakash Guruparv of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is celebrated with full religious devotion and respect.

On this auspicious occasion, several quintals of colorful flowers from different parts of the nation and abroad have been used for the decoration of Sri Darbar Sahib. More than 150 artisans from Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Bihar remained busy in their decoration work day – and night for the past few days.

Parikrama and other Gurudwara Sahib of the complex including Shri Akal Takhat Sahib have also been decorated beautifully. Special religious programmes have been going on since early morning. A Nagar kirtan will be taken out during the day while lamp garland will be performed in the night.
