Manipur: 96 unclaimed bodies lying in morgues of hospitals since outbreak of communal violence: Police
The Manipur Police has said that 96 unclaimed bodies have been lying in morgues of different hospitals in Manipur since the outbreak of communal violence on the 3rd of May in the State.
Briefing the media this evening, Inspector General of Manipur Police IK Muivah said that 175 persons have died since the 3rd of May till yesterday. He informed that among them, 79 dead bodies have already been taken by the families or the relatives.
He said that one thousand one hundred and eight individuals got injured in the violence incidents while the Police received 32 cases of missing persons.
He also informed that during the violence, 5172 houses were set ablaze. The Police have so far recovered 1329 arms out of the 5448 arms looted from different armories, added Mr. Muivah.
Mr.IK Muivah also briefed about the security measures taken to curb the violence incidents in the State and the confidence-building measures put in place to bring normalcy to Manipur. d by AIR
