ISSF World Cup: 16-member Indian contingent to take part in Shooting World Cup, starting in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Olympians Saurabh Chaudhary and Anjum Moudgil will lead a 16-member Indian contingent at the ISSF World Cup for rifle and pistol shooters in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, starting today.
The Rio event will be the last rifle and pistol ISSF World Cup in 2023 before the finals in Doha, Qatar, scheduled from 18th to 27th November. Youth Olympic Games gold medallist Chaudhary makes a return to the Indian squad, and will participate in the 10 meter air pistol event in Rio.
Rahi Sarnobat, the Asian Games 2018 gold medallist, is also making a return at Rio. Olympian Elavenil Valarivan will be in action in the women’s individual 10 meter air rifle event.
All the finals in Rio shooting World Cup, which concludes on 19th of this month, will be live-streamed in India. Overall, Indian shooters have won a total of 23 medals – seven gold, four silvers and 12 bronze at ISSF World Cups held so far in 2023. Indians are currently fourth in the medals tally.
