Govt gives nod to e-Courts Project Phase -3 as Central Sector Scheme
The Government has approved the e-Courts Mission Mode Project Phase -3 as a Central Sector Scheme spanning four years with a financial outlay of seven thousand 210 crore rupees. As part of the National eGovernance Plan, the e-Courts Project is under implementation since 2007.
Briefing media after the Cabinet meeting in New Delhi on Wednesday ( 13 September 2023), Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur said, the eCourts Mission Mode Project is the prime mover for improving access to justice using technology.
He said, Citizens who do not have access to technology can access the judicial services from eSewa Kendras.
Mr Thakur said, e-Courts aim to establish online and paperless courts in order to make the judicial system more convenient, economical, and transparent for the citizens. The Union Minister informed that four thousand 400 eSewa Kendras will be set up at all Court complexes.
