Andhra Pradesh: Miracles of SHG women farmers in Ananthapur nature farming: Environmentalist Sunitha Narayanan
Amaravati, September 14: Eminent environmentalist and Padma Shri awardee Sunitha Narayanan paid a courtesy call on Chief Secretary to Government Dr. KS Jawahar Reddy at the State Secretariat on Thursday.
She said that natural agriculture is going on wonderfully in the desert-like Anantapur district. She expressed the opinion that the ATM model, which is being implemented to allow the poor to grow and sell vegetables on at least 20 cents of land, is helping the poor farmers so much that the farmers are very excited as each farmer has the opportunity to earn up to Rs. 25,000 per month. She mentioned that the cultivation of pomegranate, papaya, sweet potato and other crops is going on wonderfully.
It is very remarkable that SHG women groups are working very efficiently in this nature agriculture. He said that it is only with the cooperation of women that this natural agriculture has become possible to develop very effectively.
On this occasion C.S. Dr. K.S. Jawahar Reddy said that when he was working as T.T.D.E.O., Chana Dal was grown by natural farming at T.T.D. He reminded that an agreement to purchase was made.
