Hyderabad: GITAM Receives Prestigious Research Grants from SERB and ICSSR
GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad is proud to announce that its esteemed faculty members have been awarded significant research grants from the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) and the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), respectively.
Dr. Shirsendu Ghosh, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, School of Science, has been awarded a grant of INR 33.00 lakhs for his project titled “Deciphering the Molecular Mechanism of Curvature Controlled Interaction of Proteins with Biological Membrane and its Relevancy in Cellular Function: A Spectroscopic and Microscopic Study.” This project, sanctioned under the Start-up Research Grant (SRG) Scheme by SERB, aims to investigate the intricate mechanisms behind protein interactions with biological membranes and their impact on cellular function.
Additionally, Dr. Nivedita Sikdar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, School of Science, has been granted INR 26.40 lakhs by SERB for her project titled “Engineering Interfacial Surfaces of Novel Catalysts for Electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction: Understanding tandem approach on Porous Electrodes.” This research endeavor aims to explore novel catalysts for electrochemical CO2 reduction and understand the tandem approach on porous electrodes.
Furthermore, Dr. Amrendra Pandey, Associate Professor at the Kautilya School of Public Policy, has been awarded a grant of Rs. 11,50,000/- by ICSSR for his project titled “A Comparative Assessment of the Impact of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme in the Gender-Critical Districts of Telangana and Uttar Pradesh.” This research project aims to evaluate and compare the impact of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme in two gender-critical districts, providing valuable insights into the effectiveness of this initiative.
Lastly, Dr. Gurram Ashok, Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, has received a grant of INR 4.0 lakhs from ICSSR for his project titled “The Role of Digital India in Grassroot Governance: An Exploratory Study in Rural Telangana.” This research project aims to examine the role of the Digital India initiative in enhancing grassroots governance in rural areas of Telangana.
