BWF World Championships: Indian shuttler HS Prannoy storms into semifinals
In Badminton, India’s ace shuttler HS Prannoy has stormed into the semifinals of the BWF World Championships and secured a medal for the country.
He registered a brilliant win in the quarter-final beating world champion Danish shuttler Viktor Axelsen 13-21, 21-15, 21-16 in men’s singles at Royal Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The match was a roller coaster ride as Prannoy fought back from a game down to eventually clinch victory in three tight games. \He is now the only Indian left in the World Championships and it is his first medal at the coveted tournament.
The world number 9, Prannoy, will face world no 3 Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the semifinals today. Earlier, star Indian pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty lost to the Danish pair of A Rasmussen and K Astrup 18-21, 19-21 in the men’s doubles.
