The Telangana High Court has ruled the 2018 election of the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA, B Krishna Mohan Reddy, as invalid for suppressing information relating to his property while filing his affidavit. He had won from Gadwal Assembly Constituency. The High Court declared D.K Aruna, his nearest rival, as elected MLA. Aruna, had then contested the polls on a Congress ticket, but is now with the BJP.

The High Court has allowed the election petition of D.K Aruna, in which she had submitted that Reddy had not disclosed in the poll affidavit the information about property that he owns, and details of bank accounts in his name and that of his spouse.

The Counsel of D K Aruna informed that the High Court also imposed a fine of two and half lakh rupees on Reddy besides another fine of 50 thousand rupees, imposed for the cost of the election petition. Krishna Mohan Reddy is contemplating to appeal in the Supreme Court.

It may be recalled that the High Court had last month set aside the election of another BRS MLA V. Venkateswara Rao from Kothagudem assembly constituency in 2018, for suppressing information relating to his immovable assets in his affidavit.
