Tirupati: Proposals for setting up fence to prevent wild animal attacks in Tirumala: Minister Peddireddy
Mr. Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, Environment and Forest Minister said that wild animal attacks on devotees walking to Tirumala is regrettable and said that TTD and Forest Department are thinking of erecting a permanent fence to prevent wild animal attacks on devotees.
He was speaking to the media on the occasion of the inauguration of the Tirupati Regional Office of the Pollution Control Board.
The minister explained that strict measures are being taken to prevent cheetah attacks from happening, and 5 lakhs ex gratia has been provided on behalf of the government to the family of a child who recently died in a cheetah attack. The incident is very sad and the two leopards found so far will be kept in the Tirupati Zoo Park.
He said that the incident took place in the forest area under the jurisdiction of TTD. The Minister stated that there is no shortage of staff anywhere and staff will be made available as required.
