IMD forecasts heavy rain over MP, Chhattisgarh & Vidarbha in Maharashtra; Yellow alert issued for Delhi
The India Meteorological Department (IMD), forecast enhanced rainfall over Madhya Pradesh due to depression over north Chhattisgarh and neighbourhood.
The IMD has also issued a red alert for the State with a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall, with the possibility of heavy rainfall. It has also issued orange alerts for Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh expecting heavy to very heavy rainfall.
The weather agency predicted heavy rainfall over Northwest India during the next 3-4 days. We spoke to senior scientist IMD, R K Jenamani:
In Delhi, a ‘yellow’ alert has been sounded, as light to moderate showers are likely today and tomorrow. The city may witness rain or thundershower on Sunday. The Met department has said that the monsoon trough is shifting closer to Delhi, and easterly winds are expected to blow in the city, leading to a rise in moisture content.
