Japan Open: Lakshya Sen enters semi-finals
India’s Lakshya Sen has made it to the semi-finals of the Japan Open Super 750 badminton tournament in Tokyo today. However, his compatriots H.S.Prannoy and Men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty bowed out.
Sen continued his impressive run, notching up a straight-game win over local hope Koki Watanabe 21-15, 21-19. The reigning Commonwealth Games champion, will play fifth seed Indonesian Jonatan Christie in the Semis tomorrow morning.
In-form men’s doubles duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, however, could not produce their top game, going down fighting 15-21, 25-23, 16-21 to Olympic champions Lee Yang and Wang Chi-Lin of Chinese Taipei. H.S. Prannoy too, lost to world number one Viktor Axelsen in hard fought match. He lost 21-19, 18-21, 8-21, mostly on unforced errors.
