Japan Open: Lakshya Sen, H S Prannoy & pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy & Chirag Shetty to play quarterfinal matches in Tokyo
In Badminton, India’s Lakshya Sen and H S Prannoy will be seen in action in the Men’s Singles quarter-finals of the Japan Open today, July 28.
HS Prannoy will face top seed and World Number one Viktor Axelsen of Denmark in the clash of the last eight today. Seeded eighth, Prannoy overpowered compatriot Kidambi Srikanth, 19-21, 21-9, 21-9 in pre-quarterfinal yesterday.
Commonwealth Games champion, Lakshya will be up against Koki Watanabe of Japan for a place in the semifinals. He overpowered home favourite Kanta Tsuneyama by 21-14, 21-16 in the pre-quarterfinal.
In Men’s Doubles, India’s star duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will meet Chinese Taipei’s Lee Yang and Wang Chi-Lin in the last eight today. The third-seeded pair moved past the Danish combination of Jeppe Bay and Lasse Molhede, 21-17, 21-11.
