Andhra Pradesh Fisheries Dept and Bhumi Organics Knowledge jointly organizes Sea Food Festival kicks off today at Vijayawada

Dr. Sidiri Appalaraju, State Department of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy said that the Jaganna government is taking steps to increase the consumption of local fish products and provide alternative marketing facilities for the welfare of fishermen. To this end, he inaugurated the second sea food festival organized by the Department of Fisheries and Bhumi Organics for three days at A Convention Center in Vijayawada on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Sidiri Appalaraju revealed that Andhra Pradesh ranks first in the country with an annual production of 50 lakh tonnes of fisheries.

He said that we are at the top in the production of fish and prawns, but we are lagging behind in consumption. The government has taken the issue of domestic marketing very ambitiously and is organizing sea food festivals across the state as the knowledge partner of Bhumi Organics.

He said that in the sea food festival organized on July 28, 29 and 30, you will get unlimited sea food buffet for Rs.699. Arrangements are being made to organize a seafood festival in cities like Visakhapatnam, Kurnool and Nellore soon.

On this occasion, he said that the Fisheries Department is taking steps to take the slogan Fish Andhra..Fit Andhra to every doorstep.

Mr. K. Kannababu Fisheries Commissioner said that as per the instructions of the Chief Minister Mr. Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the need to expand the domestic market to increase the consumption of fish products in the state has been identified and steps have been taken in that direction.

He said that a strong action plan is being formulated and implemented in order to further benefit the fishermen and farmers of the state. He said that there is a need to promote the brand Fish Andhra more to increase the consumption of aqua products.

Mr. Raghuram, Managing Director, Bhumi Organics, Knowledge Partner, said that fish is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are good for human health.

He said that the consumption of fish is much better than other meats, so his company is working hard to make healthy food available to consumers.

The Minister visited several stalls set up by Fisheries Department and knowledge partner Bhumi Organics and honored many representatives of Sea Food Processing and Promoting Units. The minister launched the Fish Andhra Domestic Marketing public portal website.
