Hyderabad: Use the facilities and grow as a person: GITAM President M.Sri Bhart advises freshers

‘Today you are in an environment of flexibility and multidisciplinarity. We would be very happy if you use it. Spend your time planning. Focus your time on things that you enjoy. Be responsible. You have freedom of time, choice, and engage in activities outside your classroom, and grow as a person’, advised M.Sribharat, President, GITAM Deemed to be University.

He along with the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dayananda Siddavattam and Prof. Y.Gouthama Rao, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Campus life interacted with freshers of all the three campuses of GITAM on Wednesday.

“We designed our curriculum to go beyond the major that you have chosen. And you can learn from other disciplines whether it be within engineering or in other schools such as architecture, social sciences, management, basic science etc. Don’t be limited to your program. Make use of opportunities that will help you distinguish yourself,” he motivated the freshers.

The President said that while the advent of artificial intelligence (AI) is a serious threat to human employment, it can also be a great opportunity. He advised them to think about, how they can use the changing technology landscape to make them relevant to the future world they want to go into.

The programs at GITAM are designed to bring you back to creativity and innovation that they must have lacked in their plus two years, he said.

He also emphasized on the importance of core engineering branches such as Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, and explained the opportunities in them.  Citing the example of Steve Jobs using his training in calligraphy in building Apple as a brand, he stressed on the importance of mastering what they enjoy to do.

The President concluded his message by hoping that the freshmen would find learning at GITAM a joy and a path for them to realize their life’s purpose.
