Uttarakhand: Over 200 circuit roads closed due to heavy rains and landslides in the last few days
In Uttarakhand, over 200 circuit roads connecting villages in hilly areas have been blocked for vehicular traffic following heavy rains and landslides at several places in the state over the past few days.
Badrinath National Highway today is blocked for vehicular movement due to a massive landslide near Kameda, now pilgrims and tourists are being sent through an alternate route.
The respective administrations of hilly areas are working on a war footing to remove obstructions from the roads on a priority basis.
On the other hand, State Disaster Management Secretary Ranjit Sinha and Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey today inspected the disaster-affected areas in Uttarkashi district and directed the officials to provide compensation to the affected people.
Meanwhile, the State Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rain in most parts of the state over the next five days. The department has also predicted heavy rains at some places in the state during the period.
