Kerala: Many districts in north and central parts of the state receive heavy rain
In Kerala, many districts in the north and central parts of the state received heavy rain since yesterday. Heavy rain alert has been issued for nine districts in the state today.
In Kozhikode, two children–brothers, died when they fell into a water-filled pit at Thamarassery in the district. As water level in Iruvanjipuzha and Poonoor rivers are rising, people living along the banks have been advised to remain vigilant.
Widespread damage to crops was reported in Kannur district following heavy rain and strong winds. All shutters of the Pazhassi dam has been raised to allow the release of more water from the reservoir.
Meanwhile, the district authorities in Kannur, Kozhikode and Wayanad have declared holiday for all educational institutions today. However, examinations will be held as per schedule.
