Biodiversity conservation programs worth of Rs 8 Cr under AP Biodiversity Conservation Society in 2023-24: CS
Dr. KS Jawahar Reddy, Chief Secretary said that various programs will be undertaken by the AP Biodiversity Conservation Society in the state this year i.e. 2023-24 with an expenditure of Rs. 8 crore. A state level AP Biodiversity Conservation Society Steering Committee meeting was held in the state secretariat at Velagapudi on Wednesday.
On this occasion, CS reviewed the various programs undertaken by the AP Biodiversity Conservation Society. He reviewed the various programs undertaken by the society last year with Rs.6 crores.
Among them, programs like maintenance of 8 base camps in the state, dredging of various drinking water sources in the forest area, maintenance of fire lines, development of padder plots, installation of elephant trackers, camera traps, and compensation for those killed and injured in the attack of forest animals have been done, he said.
Before that, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Y. Madhusudan Reddy explained the steps being taken in relation to Biosap through a power point presentation. Especially last year, he said that various programs were undertaken with about Rs. 6 crores.
Among them, programs like maintenance of 8 base camps, reclamation of various drinking water sources in the forest area, maintenance of fire lines, development of poder plots, installation of elephant trackers, camera traps, compensation for those killed and injured in the attack of forest animals have been done, he said.
He said that many programs will be undertaken with the Biosap funds of about Rs.8 crore this year. In particular, along with maintenance of base camps, solar bore wells, pump sets and new solar fencing will be installed.
In the same way, he said that measures such as the development of additional poder plots in 75 hectares, the installation of more CCTV cameras and camera troughs will be taken up. Various issues were also discussed in the meeting.
