Falaknuma express catches fire: Section affected Due to fire incident restored for Train movements: SCR
- 5 Coaches were impacted due to the fire incident in Train No. 12703.
- Section has been restored for train movements at 17:55 hours.
Today, i.e., 7th July 2023 there was an incident of fire in Train No. 12703 (Howrah – Secunderabad) between Bommaipalli – Pagidipalli section on Guntur Division near Bibinagar Railway station. Five Coaches were impacted in the incident i.e., S2 to S6. Immediately on noticing the smoke, alert Railway staff pulled the alarm chain and brought the train to halt. The on-board staff immediately assisted the passengers in de-boarding the train. All the passengers were safe and there were no casualties or any injuries.
On receiving the information about the fire incident, Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR rushed to the spot along with the team of higher officials. Accident relief train and medical relief train were also rushed to the spot. The General Manager supervised the rescue operations at the spot and monitored the relief operations including provision of transport arrangement to the affected passengers.
The stranded passengers of the affected train were brought to the Secunderabad station by both train as well as buses. The unaffected coaches of the train were detached from the formation and passengers were brought along the same train. In addition, buses were also arranged for transportation of the affected passengers. Catering arrangements (snacks and water bottles) were also arranged for the stranded passengers. Help Desk was set up at Secunderabad Railway station to provide information about the incident and information on train operations etc.
Further, to provide relief to passengers of two trains which were cancelled due to the disruption in the section, catering arrangements as well as buses were also made to transport the affected passengers. The buses were arranged for passengers to move towards both Secunderabad as well as Guntur.
Once the section was cleared of the affected coaches, it was restored for train movement in all aspects at 17:55 hrs. The Train No. 17229 (empty rake) was the first train to move in the section.
