Chairman and MD Shri N.Sreedhar mandated in a high level review of new mines
Mr. N. Sridhar, Chairman and MD SCCL directed the concerned officials to start coal production from December this year in the 3 new open cast mines undertaken by the Singareni company in this financial year and to achieve at least 10 lakh tonnes of coal production from these mines. He held a high-level review meeting on new mines to be undertaken by Singareni on Wednesday at Singareni Bhawan in Hyderabad.
Speaking on this occasion, he directed the concerned officials to pay special attention to get the remaining forest department permits immediately in relation to VK Coal Mine (Kottagudem), Rompedu Open Cast Mine (Illandu) and Goleti Open Cast Mine (Bellampalli) which the Singareni company wants to open this year. As soon as these permissions are obtained, coal production from these mines should start from the month of December.
Although the specified annual production target for VK Coal Mine is 43 lakhs, they want to achieve at least 7 lakh tonnes of production this year.
GK open cast mine (Rompedu OC) has set targets to produce at least 3 lakh tonnes of coal this year despite the annual coal production target of 20 lakh, and Goleti open cast mine to achieve at least 5 lakh tonnes this year despite the annual production target of 35 lakh.
In the wake of getting all the permits related to the Naini coal block in the state of Odisha, the plant census and their removal program in the coal mining area should be completed faster this year and steps should be taken to start production there by September.
He clarified that in order to achieve the production of 750 lakh tonnes set by the Singareni company for this year, it is necessary to achieve production from new mines. Also, in the next financial year 2024-25, they want to go ahead in a planned way to get the permissions related to Ramagundam Coal Mine, MVK open cast mine and two other proposed open cast mines.
