SAFF Championship: Indian men’s football team to take on Kuwait in grand finale in Bengaluru today
The Indian men’s team will lock horns with Kuwait in the final of the Bangabandhu SAFF Championship 2023 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bangaluru today at 7:30 PM. Sunil Cheetri-led Blue Tigers made it to the final after beating Lebanon in a hard-fought semi-final game on Sunday. The two nations will clash for the second time in this year’s tournament.
The last match between Kuwait and India in this tournament ended in a 1-1 stalemate. In that match, Sunil Chhetri scored the only goal for India and later India conceded an own goal to level scores 1-1 in the score-sheet.
While India defeated Lebanon 4-2 in a penalty shootout after regulation time and extra time ended in a stalemate in semifinal to reach the summit clash, in other semifinal match Kuwait beat Bangladesh 1-0 in extra time to book their final berth.
