Indian Coast Guard signs MoU for developing gallery at NMHC

Gandhinagar (Gujarat), 02 Jul 23, The Government of India,  is building the National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) at the historic Indus Valley civilization region of Lothal (Gujarat) under the aegis of Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW).

The first of its kind complex in India, will showcase India’s rich and diverse maritime heritage for the denizens. The foundation stone for the NMHC project was laid by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the consent for the master plan was given in March 2019.

In a landmark event towards progressing the prestigious project, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Indian Coast Guard & Indian Navy with Indian Port Rail & Ropeway Corporation Ltd. The MoU aims at Planning, Development, Construction, and Commissioning of Gallery No. 6, “Evolution of Indian Navy & Indian Coast Guard” in Phase 1A of this Project.

This MoU has been signed by Commandant PV Gopal, Project Officer, NMHC (ICG) and Shri AK Gupta, Managing Director, Indian Port Rail & Ropeway Corporation Ltd. The event was also witnessed by Additional Director General Rakesh Pal, PTM, TM, the Director General Indian Coast Guard (Addl. Charge) and Inspector General Anil Kumar Harbola, TM, the Commander Coast Guard Region (North West). 

The signing of MoU took place in presence of Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Dr. Mansukh Bhai Mandaviya, Hon’ble Minister of Health & Family Welfare and Chemical and Fertilizers, Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, Hon’ble Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways & Tourism and Shri Shantanu Thakur, Hon’ble Minister of state for Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways.
