Maharashtra: Many parts of Mumbai flooded due to heavy rains
Mumbai witnessed water-logging in several areas of the city as heavy rains lashed on Wednesday. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an Orange alert in the town till Thursday, indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall in a few places.
Mumbai received around 77 mm of rainfall yesterday from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm, whereas Thane recorded 148 mm of rainfall.
According to a note from Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), two people died in Goregaon due to a tree crash incident. The civic body added that in the last 24 hours, there were 26 incidents of tree fall, 15 incidents of short-circuits, and five incidents of collapse or partial collapse of houses.
The traffic flow was affected in several areas of Mumbai, and stopped vehicular movement was due to waterlogging.
Despite continuous rains, Mumbai’s civic body Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to impose a 10 percent water cut from July 1 due to delayed monsoon in the city.
