Bombay HC instructs Mumbai police, BMC to ensure there is no sacrificing of animals in housing societies
In a special hearing on Wednesday late evening, the Bombay High Court instructed the Mumbai police and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to ensure there was no sacrificing of animals in housing societies that did not have the municipal permission to do so.
The court was hearing a challenge against the animal slaughter in a south Mumbai society ahead of Eid-ul-Adha on Thursday.
The High Court has also directed BMC and Mumbai Police to ensure that action is taken against the individuals if they do not have requisite permissions to keep those animals in residential premises.
The court also expressed displeasure over such a plea filed at the time of the festival despite the fact that this festival is already marked in the calendar every year.
