Uttarakhand: Heavy rains alert issued for next 4 days in state

In Uttarakhand, Heavy rains alert issued for the next four days in the state. AIR correspondent reports that intermittent light rains are being experienced in most parts of the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions since morning.

The  Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert warning of heavy rain for Nainital, Champawat, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Dehradun, Haridwar, Tehri and Pauri districts for today. Yellow alert warning has been issued for Kumaon and Garhwal division for the next three days.
 
The state weather Department has also expressed the possibility of blocking roads and highways due to mild to moderate landslides and rock falls in sensitive hilly areas. In view of the heavy rain warning Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed the officers to always be in alert mode for disaster relief and rescue operations.

Meanwhile, the Tehri administration has banned rafting in Kaudiyala, Munikireti, Shivpuri, Brahmpuri areas. The administration has taken this step in view of the safety of the tourists.
