Over 1.55 lakh people still reeling under deluge in Assam; 2 lost their lives in Barpeta district
In Assam, the flood situation has further improved due to better weather conditions but more than 1,55,000 people of 563 villages are still reeling under the deluge across 23 revenue circles. Two persons have lost their lives in Barpeta district today.
The State government has closed several relief camps though 2915 people are still in 29 relief camps. Seventy relief distribution centres are in operation in the flood-affected districts.
NDRF and SDRF teams have also been deployed for rescue and relief operations. According to Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), several embankments, roads and other infrastructure have been damaged by flood waters in several districts.
