Mumbai: Rajawadi Colony building collapses in Ghatkopar amid heavy rain: 2 persons died, 2 injured

Two persons died and two others were injured after a portion of a building’s balcony collapsed in the Vile Parle area in Mumbai this afternoon. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, two fire engines, one response vehicle and ambulances were pressed into service immediately after the incident.

The incident took place on St Braz Road near Nanavati Hospital in Vile Parle at 2:27 pm. The injured have been admitted to nearby Cooper Hospital. Further details are awaited.

Amid heavy rain, a portion of a building collapsed in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar area today morning. The building collapsed at around 9:33 am at Rajawadi Colony in Ghatkopar East. The building was a three-storey structure and the portion that collapsed was the third floor.

According to Chief Officer of Disaster Management Dept, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Rashmee Lokhande, four persons have been safely rescued.

The rescue operation is still underway. Officials of National Disaster Response Force, fire brigade and police are on the scene.
