MET Department issues orange alert warning of heavy rains for Nainital, Champawat, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Dehradun, Tehri & Pauri districts for 26th June
In Uttarakhand, the State Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert warning of heavy rains for Nainital, Champawat, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Dehradun, Tehri and Pauri districts while a yellow alert in other districts for tomorrow. According to the department, there is a possibility of heavy rains in the hilly districts of Garhwal division on June 27 and 28.
Meanwhile, rain continued in many parts of the state including capital Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag. Due to heavy rains in Rudraprayag, the Kedarnath Yatra has been suspended till further orders for the safety of the devotees.
On the other hand, continuous rain spells since morning and subsequent waterlogging led to traffic snarls in several areas of Dehradun and Haridwar city. Damage due to water logging has been reported in several residential buildings and commercial establishments in Haridwar city.
At least 400 goats have died due to lightning in Kapkot tehsil of Bageshwar district. One person died and three others were injured after being struck by lightning at Purola in Uttarkashi district.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed all the departments to remain vigilant to deal with any kind of disaster in view of the incessant rains in the state.
