The G-20 Labour Summit at Patna concluded today with adoption of two crucial joint statements related to universalization of social security and portability of social security funds and Empowerment of women workers in the future of work.

Talking to media persons about the outcome of the summit, the Chairman of Labour -20 group Hiranmay Pandya said the first joint statement is concerned with providing better environment, minimum wage and social security for labourers across the G-20 member countries.

He said the second resolution is related to the approach of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) regarding the women workforce.

Mr. Pandya said it protects the interest of women workers in the changing scenario of employment and future of work. He said the resolution envisages needs of skilling, up-skilling and re-skilling of women workforce in tech-intensive work. The provision will safeguards the women work force from layoffs and wage discrimination.
