As part of the G20 India Presidency, the 14th Y20 consultations began in Bengaluru today. Addressing the gathering during the inaugural today, Karnataka Medical Education and Skill Development minister Dr Sharanprakash Patil underlined the need to address the aspirations of the younger generation.

He said, they must get access to equal opportunities to pursue their aspirations. The Government, he noted, has the mandate to provide quality education to the youth. He also laid emphasis on sensitising the young generation about evils of substance abuse and how spiritual wellbeing can help counter mental issues.

In his address, the former minister of Youth and Sports Development from the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sunday Akin Dare laid emphasis on investing in our youth. He said that the agenda of the youth is clear and that is to provide them quality education, protect them from substance abuse and keep their mental health intact. He said sports is a medium that heals our mind and body, teaches us to cope up with stress and improves our self esteem.

The National Institute of Mental Health, NIMHANS and Union Ministry of Youth Affairs have organised this two days event where 282 delegates from G20 member countries and Guest countries will hold consultations on the theme ‘Health, Well being and sports’.
