Assam: Flood situation slightly improves due to better weather conditions
In Assam, the flood situation improves slightly due to better weather conditions but more than 4,88,000 people are still reeling under the deluge across 19 districts in the State.
A total of 1538 villages of 54 revenue circles were affected due to flood and 1466 hectares of crop areas have been damaged across the State. One more person lost his life in Nalbari district.
According to Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), several embankments, roads, bridges, and other infrastructure have been damaged by flood waters in several districts.
The state government has opened 140 Relief camps and 75 relief distribution centres in flood-affected districts and NDRF and SDRF teams have also been deployed for rescue and relief.
River Manas, Pagladiya, Puthimari, and Brahmaputra at Nematighat and Dhubri are flowing above the danger level.
