Hyderabad: GITAM Celebrates Yoga Day
GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad celebrated the International Day of Yoga on 21st June 2023 with the enthusiastic participation of students, faculty, and staff, with a theme of ‘Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’.
The celebrations on Wednesday started with the Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. D.S. Rao and Resident Director DVVSR Varma address. They are told about yoga and the benefits of practicing yoga to an individual in everyday life. They are also explained how yoga practiced perpetually benefits reducing stress at work for a healthier body and mind. They are, along with other participants, actively participated in the practice session.
Mr. Bala Krishna, a yoga expert has participated in this program to explain yoga with demonstrations. He narrated to the participants about the scientific relevance and importance of yoga in our life.
The whole program was organized by the GITAM NCC & NSS units in coordination with the Directorates of Sports and Student Life.
PFMA Workshop concluded
The three day workshop started with expert talks and interactions focused on the theme “perturbation methods to boundary value problems” with applications in various fields of science and engineering. Participants from various institutions in neighboring states actively participated. In each session participants were asked to solve problems in promptu with the help of the experts giving participants a complete hands on exposure.
These theory sessions were supported by hands-on MATLAB programming conducted by Prof Vamsi Krishna, GITAM, where participants solved problems numerically. The unique feature of this workshop is “literature to practice” so that participants gain exposure to various techniques and then implement during the workshop. Dr Motahar Reza, GITAM conducted a session on the Finite volume method and its applications.
The first of its kind are sessions organized by Prof G P Raja Sekhar, IIT Kharagpur on “Technical writing” and “Rebuttal writing to Reviews” where various best practices to author quality publications were discussed. Various case studies were discussed so that participants are exposed to know-how on research paper writing and defending reviews from an international journal. Based on the first two day training, enthusiastic participants.
Took part in a technical presentation session where detailed discussions were held so that other participants got a first hand experience of learn-practice. This session was organized by Dr Vijayasekhar, GITAM where all the experts from GITAM took active roles.
The three day workshop was concluded during the valedictory where Dr. V M Chowdary, Scientist G, Group Director, Agricultural Sciences, NRSC, Hyderabad was Chief Guest and Prof. G P Raja Sekhar, Former Dean Faculty of Sciences IIT Kharagpur was the Guest of Honor. Department of Mathematics, GITAM University took a unique initiative in the form of this workshop with a motto “learn-practice-excel”
