Goa: PM Modi addresses G20 Tourism Ministers’ Meet, emphasizes tourism is not just sightseeing but an immersive experience
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the G20 Tourism Ministers’ Meet held in Goa via video message today.
The Prime Minister who is on a state visit to the USA said that India’s approach to Tourism is based on the ancient Sanskrit verse ‘Atithi Devo Bhavah’ which means ‘Guest is God’. PM Modi emphasized that tourism is not just about sightseeing but it is an immersive experience. Be it Music or Food, Arts or Culture, the diversity of India is truly majestic, said Prime Minister Modi. The Prime Minister underlined that India’s efforts in the Tourism sector are centred on preserving its rich heritage while creating a world-class infrastructure for tourism.
Prime Minister Modi said that we have kept the tourism sector as a focal point of our reforms. In the meanwhile, Tourism Ministers today deliberated upon various issues concerning the sector. Union Minister for Culture, Tourism, And Development Of North Eastern Region (DoNER) G Kishan Reddy highlighted the potential of Tourism for India’s growth, preservation, and promotion of its natural and cultural heritage.
Tourism Minister of Goa Rohan Khaunte said that student power has been always an inspiring force in society. Student community should partner with Government and be problem solvers, he added. He was speaking while interacting with Yuva Tourism clubs at the G20 summit at Dona Paula Goa. Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, Ministers of State Ajay Bhatt, and Shripad Naik also interacted with the student community.
