PM Modi to lead global celebration of Yoga at UN Headquarters in New York
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead global celebration of Yoga at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, USA on Wednesday. More than 180 countries are expected to join to show their commitment towards yoga. Ayush Ministry said, Yoga has reached every corner of the world during the last nine years.
The National celebration of 9th International Day of Yoga 2023 will be led by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. On this occasion, Governor of Madhya Pradesh Mangubhai Chhaganbhai Patel, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister of Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal and several State Dignitaries will be present.
About 15 thousand people are expected to participate in the main event. This year’s theme of International Day of Yoga is Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam which indicates the Indian socio-cultural heritage.
This year International Day of Yoga will witness unique feature like Ocean Ring of Yoga, where Indian Navy and Merchant ships will organize Common Yoga Protocol demonstration at port and vessels of the friendly countries in different oceans. At National level this year International Day of Yoga will try to achieve Har Aangan Yoga by enabling observation of Yoga at village level.
In a letter to village Sarpanchs, Prime Minister Modi has appealed them to celebrate Yoga with their villagers in full strength. Apart from this, around two lakh Common Service Centers, AYUSH Health and Wellness Centers, AYUSH Gram will also participate in the Yoga Day celebrations. People with gather around 50 thousand Amrit Sarovar to perform Yoga.
