Egypt retains World Squash Championship
Egypt has retained the World Squash Championship. Egypt beat Malaysia 2-1 in the final in Chennai today. Malaysia won the silver. The third place was shared jointly by hosts India and Japan. India was beaten by Malaysia 3-0 in the semi-final yesterday.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin presented the golden cup to the winning team, and Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin presented the medals to the winners. In his closing speech, the Chief Minister said the State has gained a special place in international sports by organising the Chess Olympiad in a record four-month period.
Eight countries took part in the championship which began on June 13.
