Severe Cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ is likely to make landfall near Jakhow port today evening and will have a severe impact on Gujarat coast
Gujarat is bracing for impact of Cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ which is likely to make landfall near the Jakhau port in the Kutch district on Thursday after 4 pm as a ‘very severe cyclonic storm.’ The Cyclone is presently located 280 km away from the coast of Kutch.
India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for the Saurashtra and Kutch coasts in view of Cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ over the Arabian Sea.
The cyclonic storm will cross the Saurashtra and Kutch regions, as well as the adjacent coasts of Pakistan, between Gujarat’s Mandvi and Karachi in Pakistan near Jakhau Port by tomorrow evening.
Regional Director, State Meteorological Department, Manorama Mohanty said, there is possibility of heavy rain in several districts of Gujarat under the influence of cyclone. Fishing operation acros Gujarat coast has also been suspended.
