Gujarat:  State govt continuously working to prevent any loss of life due to cyclone Biparjoy: Alok Kumar Pandey

Gujarat Commissioner of Relief Alok Kumar Pandey said that, the state government is continuously working to prevent any loss of life due to the possible Biparjoy cyclone which is likely to affect Gujarat. Chief Secretary of Gujarat Rajkumar informed in a meeting in Gandhinagar with Chief Minister Bhupendra patel and the district administration that more than 37,000 people have been shifted to safe places from 8 districts namely Kutch, Porbandar, Junagadh, Jamnagar, Devbhoomi-Dwarka, Gir-Somnath, Morbi and Rajkot. Provision of medicines and other materials is arranged in these districts.

As many as 521 PHCs, CHCs, and Hospitals in theses districts have been equipped with health-protective drugs, equipment, and generators. A total of 239 ambulances are also available including 157 nos. of (108) ambulances services in flood-prone areas. According to the Meteorological department, there are chances of heavy rain in these eight districts on 14 th and 15 th June.

Following the possibility of the impact of this storm in Kutch district, more than 40 thousand food packets, 2000 kilograms of milk powder and 45,000 Tetra packs milk have been prepared to deliver to the needy people in Kutch. As a precautionary measure, a total of 4050 hoardings have been removed in coastal areas of 8 districts. 15 teams of NDRF and 12 teams of SDRF have also been deployed for the safety of the people.
