G20 development ministers’ meeting will continue till June 13 in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh

The G20 Development Ministers’ meeting began today in Varanasi city of Uttar Pradesh. The Union Minister of External Affairs Dr S. Jaishankar is chairing the meeting which will continue till 13th June. Before the important session today, Mr. Jaishankar met with EU Commissioner for International Partnerships, Secretary General of United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development and Australian Development Minister among other dignitaries today. Around 200 delegates are taking part in the summit. 

After arrival at Kashi, the delegates went to see the famous Ganga Aarti on river cruise. State government has also hosted a dinner for them tonight in which the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also be present. There are arrangements of cultural night for the entertainment of delegates.

To show them a glimpse of the spiritual and religious importance of the holy City, the delegates will also be taken to Sarnath. The whole Varanasi city is decked up the for the event and administration has changed the whole picture of the city by decorating it with beautiful gardens, sculptures and lighting, as well as ornamental towers, increasing its beauty manifold.

The state government has decided to gift GI-tagged Gulabi Meenakari handicrafts to the visiting delegates from G20 nations. Gulabi meenakari peacocks were specially ordered for the G20 delegates.
