Super Cyclone Biparjoy to lash Kerala with heavy rains, thundershowers and gusty winds: Similar situation next four days
In Kerala, the Meteorological Department forecasts widespread rain with thunder and lightning and wind in the state for the next four days.
Certain regions in Kerala witnessed heavy rains due to the effect of the super cyclone Biparjoy in the Arabian Sea and low pressure in the Bay of Bengal and Monsoon. In the next 24 hours, Cyclone Biparjoy is expected to intensify and move north-northeast.
Fishing is banned on Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep coasts. Meanwhile, trawling ban came into effect in the State from last midnight, for 52 days till the 31st of July. During this period, mechanised boats are prohibited from entering the sea.
However, small inboard and traditional boats are allowed, restricted to 12 nautical miles from the coast. 24-hour control rooms are set up in all coastal districts. A trawling ban is imposed every year, on account of the fish breeding season during monsoons.
