Number of MBBS seats in country crosses 1.7 lakh mark: Dr Mansukh Mandaviya

Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya has said that number of MBBS seats in the country has crossed one lakh seven thousand mark. He said, eight thousand 195 MBBS Under Graduate seats have been added this year.

Dr Mandaviya said, 50 medical colleges including 30 government and 20 private colleges have been added this year. Now the total number of medical colleges in the country has reached the seven hundred two mark.

The Minister said, this year more than 83 lakh 44 thousand cataract surgeries have taken place. These surgeries took place under the Mission Mode Cataract Surgery campaign 2022-23. Dr Mandaviya said, due to the Covid pandemic more than one crore 25 lakh cataract surgeries remained pending.
