Visakhapatnam: IGZP organizes Coastal Clean-up Program successfully

On the occasion of World Oceans Day, June 8, 2023, Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, Visakhapatnam successfully organized a Coastal Clean-up Program. The event took place opposite to the Beach road gate from 6am. The Coastal Clean-up Program aimed to raise awareness about the importance of preserving our oceans and protecting marine ecosystems.

Participants from diverse backgrounds, including government departments, NGOs, Organizations, educational institutions, and concerned citizens, joined hands to make a positive impact on the environment.

The event witnessed a good response, with numerous enthusiastic volunteers dedicating their time and effort towards the clean-up. Participants actively engaged in collecting and removing various types of debris, including plastics, bottles, and other waste materials that pose a threat to marine life. Dr. Nandani  Salaria, IFS, expressed her gratitude to all the participants for their exceptional commitment and contribution to the cause.

She emphasized the significance of collective action in addressing the challenges faced by our oceans and highlighted the vital role of zoological parks in promoting environmental conservation. To acknowledge the valuable efforts of the participants, Indira Gandhi Zoological Park issued participation certificates to all those who took part in the Coastal clean-up Program.

These certificates serve as a token of appreciation for their dedication and commitment towards creating a cleaner and healthier marine environment. The Coastal Clean-up Program not only succeeded in raising awareness about the urgent need to protect our oceans but also demonstrated the power of collaboration and community engagement in achieving sustainable environmental goals.
