Odisha train crash: 288 deaths confirmed in Balasore train crash: CS Pradeep Jena
Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena today said that after an elaborate verification of records, taking information from all concerned and after conducting two rounds of combing of the tracks and nearby areas 288 deaths have been confirmed. In a tweet,
Mr Jena said, 205 bodies have been identified and have been handed over. He said, 83 bodies are yet to be identified.
40 deaths reported from Bihar
In the Balasore rail accident so far 40 deaths have been reported from Bihar. The State Disaster Management Department has said that most of the deaths are reported from Muzaffarpur and Madhubani.
Nine (09) deaths in Muzaffarpur and Seven deaths have been reported in Madhubani district. The casualties so far reported are 06 from Bhagalpur and 05 from East Champaran.
Altogether 10 deaths have been reported from Purnea, West Champaran, Darbhanga, Nawada, and Jamui districts. The department has said one death each from Samastipur, Banka, and Begusarai districts has been reported.
A four-member team of Bihar officials is camping in Odisha to help injured people and identify the deceased.
