TSREDCO organizes ‘Green Walk’ on World Environment Day

As part of the Telangana Decade celebrations, Green Walk was held under the Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TSREDCO) on the occasion of Electricity Victory Day and World Environment Day. Redco chairman Y. Satish Reddy and Sunil Sharma, special chief secretary of the state government, flagged off the green walk near People’s Plaza on Necklace Road.

It continued from People’s Plaza to Redco headquarters in Khairatabad. Chairman Y Satish Reddy said in the program organized later… “Everyone should work for environment protection. The state government is already taking many steps towards environment protection and is standing as a compass for the country. It has achieved many successes in 9 years.

Due to this, the forest area of our state has increased by almost nine percent. Hyderabad is known as Green City. The renewable energy in Telangana has increased to 5774 MW from 74 MW in 2014. The Chairman stated that the state has achieved 256% more renewable energy than the target given by the Center and has stood first. Those who buy electric vehicles are exempted from transport tax and registration charges.

Special CS Sunil Sharma, who attended the program as a special guest, said that the state has achieved significant growth in the power sector in just 9 years. Doubling the per capita electricity consumption is a great thing. He appreciated the initiatives taken by Telangana Redco in the field of renewable energy. He said that there has been a very significant development in solar power. He said that the use of roof top solar is also increasing day by day which is a good development. The use of electric vehicles is also increasing.

Vice Chairman and MD Janaiah said that today we all are directly experiencing what is happening due to lack of balance in the environment. He said that as part of the measures to protect the environment from them, we are taking measures such as planting saplings and generating electricity from garbage.

On this occasion, Chairman Satish Reddy, Special CS Sunil Sharma, MD Janaiah, GM Prasad and DGM Srinivas unveiled the brochure on tomorrow’s progress. He also pledged to protect the environment. Redco staff along with students of many engineering colleges participated in this program.
