Singareni Thermal Power Plant bags State Award for Environmental Actions

Singareni Collieries Company Limited has received another prestigious award for its environmentally friendly mining and power generation practices. The award was presented to Singareni Thermal Power Plant in a program organized by the State Pollution Control Board in Hyderabad on the occasion of World Environment Day.

The State Pollution Control Board has conferred this award in recognition of the extraordinary efforts being made in the pollution prevention measures, water and fuel saving measures, waste management and green enhancement being adopted in Singareni Thermal Plant.

State Enviroment and Forest Minister Mr. Indrakaran Reddy and Animal Husbandry Minister Mr. Talasani Srinivas Yadav presented the award. Chief of Power Mr. Vishwanatha Raju accepted the award on behalf of the organization. On this occasion, the Ministers viewed the exhibition of plastic-free and environment-friendly products.

Later, incentives and prizes were given to the officials of various departments, organizations and students who are working for the control of pollution and plastic. Singareni Collieries has been following advanced technological methods and has been giving importance to environmentally friendly mining methods from the very beginning. Besides, it is working to protect the environment by doing large-scale plantation on overburdened dumps.

It has already planted 5.71 crore saplings as part of  Harithaharam. Also, as part of the environmental welfare measures, the company is moving forward by setting up large-scale solar plants with the intention of meeting the fuel requirements through solar power generation.

Also, in thermal power station, new projects like flue gas desulphurisation are being completed on time in accordance with the new environment friendly rules and thermal electricity is being produced in an environmentally friendly manner.
