Nagaland Governor La. Ganesan urged all citizens to conserve the environment and treat it as a top priority to save the planet. He was speaking during the observance of World Environment Day with a theme ‘Solution to Plastic pollution’ in collaboration with Kohima Forest Division at Raj Bhavan Kohima today.
Mr. Ganesan said, the theme for this year’s World Environment Day is a reminder to all the citizens that their action against plastic pollution is the need of the hour.
The Governor said, the world is overwhelmed by the production of plastic and is using it more than it can recycle causing hazardous effects to humans, animals and nature.
He said people should reduce the use of plastic in their daily lives and called upon each and everyone to reuse as much as possible while also apprising them to recycle the plastic waste.
He said, global environmental issues like climate change, deforestation and pollution are affecting everyone in their daily lives today. On the occasion, the Governor launched the website “Clicktoplant” and also unveiled the mascot ‘Nino’.
